The Ceramic Wash System

Everything the kit does, how to get the most out of it, and what to do when something is not behaving. Print it and leave it with the cannons.

Section one

In the box

Four items, five pieces: Pre-Wash Snow Foam (500ml), Ceramic Snow Foam (500ml), two Foam Cannons and the Wash Mitt. A drying towel is an optional upgrade, or you can use a suitable towel you already own.

Two cannons in the box, so both foams stay loaded — no stopping to rinse out and re-dilute mid-wash.

Section two

1. Unpack each cannon. The bronze-coloured foam nozzle with the red end is already fitted. Before adding water, remove the loose items from inside the bottle: a separate rinse nozzle and a bag of spare parts. Use the fitted foam nozzle with both K+W foams. The rinse nozzle is for other uses, not for applying these products.

2. Keep the spares. The bag contains a spare clear plastic insert and red foam discs. An insert and disc are already fitted inside the foam nozzle, so you do not need to replace them before first use. To access them later, fully depressurise the cannon, unscrew the nozzle end and withdraw the clear insert; the red foam disc sits inside it. Keep the spare parts together.

3. Water first, then concentrate. Add 2 litres of water using the markings on the bottle. Use the integrated measuring jug to add 50ml of product, then shake. Prepare one cannon with Pre-Wash Snow Foam and the other with Ceramic Snow Foam. This is enough for one average car per stage.

4. Secure and pressurise. Make sure the top, measuring jug, nozzle and nozzle end are screwed on tightly. Pump until the handle firms up. Pressure falls as you spray: every couple of panels, add another 6–12 pumps until the handle firms up again.

5. Check the car. Work in the shade on cool panels, never in direct sunlight or on hot paint. Do not let either foam dry on the car. Rinse off heavy dry mud before starting the pre-wash.

Pump until the handle firms up. As pressure drops, add another 6–12 pumps every couple of panels until the handle firms up again. Check the dilution and fittings if the foam is thin; flush out dried product after use.

Section three

The wash

Pre-wash, rinse, ceramic foam with the mitt, then dry. The first rinse removes loosened grime before contact. During either foam stage, top up the pressure every couple of panels with around 6–12 pumps, until the handle firms up.

Pre-Wash
Add 2 litres of water to the first cannon, then 50ml of Pre-Wash Snow Foam. Secure all fittings, shake and pump until the handle firms up. Cover the vehicle and allow 3–5 minutes for the foam to loosen grime. Never let it dry on the panels.

Rinse Off
Rinse thoroughly, top to bottom, to carry away the loosened grime before using the mitt. Keep the pre-wash and ceramic stages separate: always rinse between them.

Ceramic Snow Foam + Wash Mitt
In the second cannon, add 2 litres of water, then 50ml of Ceramic Snow Foam. Secure, shake and pressurise. Cover the car, then wash through the foam with a dampened mitt, top to bottom, starting where you first applied it. Turn the mitt and rinse it in clean water as needed. Do not leave an extra long dwell or let the foam dry. Rinse the vehicle thoroughly, leaving ceramic protection behind.

Dry
Dry top to bottom with a clean, plush microfibre towel. Use the optional 1200gsm Drying Towel or a suitable towel you already own.
Section four

When the mitt is optional

Light, loose dust only? The mitt can be optional. Road film, mud or salt? Use the full routine.

Choose the method by the dirt on the car, not simply by whether it has rained. For a light covering of loose dust, use Pre-Wash Snow Foam, rinse thoroughly, apply Ceramic Snow Foam without the mitt, rinse again and dry. If dirt remains, use the full contact routine before drying.

For road film, mud, salt or bonded dirt, use the full routine. After the pre-wash and rinse, cover the car with Ceramic Snow Foam and begin the dampened mitt at the area you foamed first. Work top to bottom, turning and rinsing the mitt in clean water as needed. The foam cleans and lubricates; the mitt lifts the remaining dirt.

The ceramic protection comes from the Ceramic Snow Foam. Using the mitt supplies the extra cleaning that a dirty car needs; skipping it does not make a maintenance wash suitable for bonded grime.

Ten washes from each 500ml bottle at 50ml per stage. Both bottles run down together when both stages are used at that dose. A set lasts about ten weeks with weekly washing, or twenty weeks with fortnightly washing. If you subscribe, refills arrive every three months; pause the next delivery from your account if you still have enough.

Section six

Looking after the kit

The cannons

Before opening the bottle or removing any fittings, pull the red release valve on top to fully depressurise the cannon. Rinse the bottle, then reassemble it and pump clean water through after every use. Release the pressure again before storage. Dried product can stop the cannon foaming properly.

The Wash Mitt

Rinse it out thoroughly, then machine wash at 30 degrees with no fabric softener. Softener coats the fibres and kills the soap reserve. Air dry.

The drying towel

Same rule — 30 degrees, no softener, no tumble drier sheet. A 1200gsm twisted pile stops absorbing the moment it is coated.

Grit is the enemy

If the mitt hits the ground, rinse it properly before it goes anywhere near the paint again. A second mitt is cheap insurance.

Section seven

Storage and safety

Store upright

Caps on, out of direct sunlight, somewhere that does not freeze. Both foams are water-based.

Keep away from children

And pets. Not for internal consumption. Avoid contact with eyes; if it happens, rinse with plenty of clean water.

Never neat

Both foams are concentrate and are designed to be diluted in the cannon. Neat product is wasted product, not stronger cleaning.

Not on hot paint

Let a car that has just been driven cool down, or move it into shade, before you foam it.

Section eight

If something is not right

The foam is thin

Check the dose: 2 litres of water, then 50ml of concentrate. Use the fitted foam nozzle, not the separate rinse nozzle. Check the top, jug and nozzle fittings are tight, then pump until the handle firms up. Add around 6–12 pumps every couple of panels as pressure drops.

The cannon has stopped foaming

Fully depressurise before opening or removing fittings. Dried product may be blocking the pump or nozzle. Rinse the bottle, reassemble and flush through with clean water. The spare clear insert and red foam discs are available if a fitted part needs replacing.

Water is not beading yet

Ceramic protection builds across washes rather than arriving all at once. Give it two or three. Also check nothing caustic has been used in between — traffic film removers strip the lot.

Streaks after drying

The towel is saturated, or it has met fabric softener at some point. Move to a dry section, or wash the towel again without softener.

Questions

Do I need a pressure washer?
No. The hand-pump Foam Cannons generate their own pressure. Pump until the handle firms up, then add around 6–12 pumps every couple of panels as pressure falls. A garden hose supplies the water for rinsing the vehicle; keep clean water available for the mitt too.
Is this a contact wash?
The full routine includes contact with the Wash Mitt during the Ceramic Snow Foam stage. Use it for road film, mud, salt or bonded dirt. A no-mitt maintenance wash is only for light, loose dust; the amount and type of dirt matter more than whether it has rained.
Why two cannons?
So both foams stay loaded. One holds the Pre-Wash, one holds the Ceramic Snow Foam, and you move straight from step one to step three without stopping to rinse out and re-dilute.
Where does the Wash Mitt come in?
Step three. Cover the vehicle with Ceramic Snow Foam, then work through the foam with a dampened mitt, top to bottom, starting where you first applied it. Turn the mitt and rinse it in clean water as needed. The foam cleans and lubricates; the mitt lifts the remaining dirt. Rinse the car thoroughly before the foam dries.
Why is Rinse Off its own step?
Because it is the step people skip, and skipping it undoes the pre-wash entirely. Rinsing carries the loosened grime away; if you go straight to the mitt you drag that grit across the paint, which is what causes swirl marks.
Is it safe on a ceramic-coated car?
Yes. The non-caustic Pre-Wash and pH-neutral Ceramic Snow Foam clean effectively without damaging or stripping existing protection. Safe on paint, wraps, PPF and alloy wheels — pH neutral and non-caustic.
How much product does each wash use?
For each foam stage, add 2 litres of water to its cannon, then measure 50ml of the correct concentrate with the integrated jug. Secure the fittings and shake. That covers one average car per stage, giving ten washes from each 500ml bottle.
How long does the ceramic protection last?
Up to six weeks, and it starts from the very first wash. Each wash adds to the last rather than washing the previous layer away, so the finish gets slicker and the water behaviour stronger over time. Durability varies with vehicle use, weather and washing frequency.
Do I still need a shampoo?
Not for this routine. The Wash Mitt carries the soap reserve and the Ceramic Snow Foam provides the lubrication, so the contact stage happens inside the foam. Ceramic Shampoo is available separately if you prefer a traditional bucket wash.
How often should I wash?
Weekly or fortnightly, depending on the dirt. At 50ml of each foam per full wash, the set gives ten washes: about ten weeks if used weekly, or twenty weeks if used fortnightly. If you subscribe, refills arrive every three months; pause the next delivery from your account if you still have enough.
